A Christian Louboutin Haul

If you know me, you know that Christian Louboutin is my favourite fashion house of all time. Of . All. GODDAM. Time.

I fell in love with the red bottoms way before Cardi B made them a viral catchphrase in her runaway hit Bodak Yellow. And way before I even signed up for Instagram for the first time some wild years ago.

These red bottoms are to me, what the wind is to the Ocean, what the rain is to Forests and what a Camera is to a Kardashian.

We go together, Baby.

So is my adoration for this venerable shoe brand that Mr Christian Louboutin himself has become not just a close friend but has also personally crafted a customized shoe for me. Straight from his magical hands. I will be writing about it soon. Stay with me boys and girls.

Just like a Cactus, I am ferocious and hot! Spiky from all angles and ready for any challenge.. On land and on water. It’s the warrior in me, soft enough to blow you away and dangerous enough to wreck a village. Don’t play with my spikes… Cus you might just get BURNED!

Our wedding anniversary weekend getaway

Last Friday,the Mister and I left for Diani to celebrate our wedding anniversary- because lovers should celebrate their milestones- regardless of their magnitude.

Last year, we celebrated the birthday and our wedding anniversary in Los Angeles.

This year, in the spirit of ‘Tembea Kenya’ (Tour Kenya) we decided to stay home and explore a few hidden gems.

We started off the three-day, moon-lit tryst at the Maji Beach Boutique Hotel in Diani on Friday evening.

The first evening was basically nap time after dinner because we were all knackered a good one.

On Saturday I woke up rejuvenated and dragged the mister for a swim after breakfast.

And what a delightful weekend it was.

Apart from celebrating it with my partner in crime, the Maji Beach Boutique turned out to be one of the grandest places I have been to.

How to be in Dubai on a budget. Also I met a camel named Mallik.

The food was trés bon. I especially loved their baked lobster with cheese and their Sous chef took great delight in showing off on the fresh Oysters that we had for dinner on Sunday.

The Lobster was out of this world and tasted as delicious as it looks.

And the Oysters were the showpiece of our Sunday evening dinner.

The vista of the ocean from our room was overwhelming. It was as if we were at the sea with the wind on our faces and the water lapping at our feet.

The view from the patio at night was otherworldly. The blood moon was a sight to behold. Most people believe that the blood moon brings deeper understanding within ourselves, elevating our minds to the highest power. Well?

Late in the night as we sat outside the balcony of our beach house soaking it all in, the aroma of the ocean and the din of other joy-lovers would waft to our room, creating a beautiful orchestra of feelings and nature.

If sunsets are poetic in Nairobi, here, they were straight from an Allan Poe.

On Sunday evening, in what turned out to to be the highlight of the night, we took our champagne and ran to the beach and stood silently in the breathtaking sight of the blood moon.

Two souls inhabiting one body watching the same phenomenon.

Diani was good to me and the mini vacation was too short but too worthwhile.

On to the next!

My second Birkin and a mini haul from Hermés

If you have followed me long enough, I assume you know my little romantic story with luxury good manufacturer, Hermes.

I had to wait a wearisome four years before the store offered me my first Birkin. Understandably because they are super rare, like honest politicians.

But when it finally came, it was worth every inch of its luxurious Barenia Leather and was offered on the eve of my wedding in Vegas!

What else could a girl ask for-except for a million other things. Ha!Ha!

So, four months later, Hermes has offered me another bag.

My new baby from Hermes in a beautiful blood orange Fjord leather

It similar to the first one in that it is 35 centimeters but the new one comes in blood orange Fjord leather and sports the same coveted palladium hardware.

Fjord is one among the heaviest Hermès leathers mainly identified by its characteristic flat grain and vertical veining.

It is much heavier, tougher and sturdier than the first Birkin and is ideal for travel or your unconventional out-of-control days.

The second bag makes it to a collection of three bags from Hermés that I currently own.

The first was Evelyne III in red taurillon clemence leather that I got before the first Birkin- sorry I forgot to do an unboxing.

I will be doing follow up styling of the bag on my channel so remember to stay tuned.

Oh, the tears! My birthday and wedding Anniversary celebration

I celebrated my birthday and my wedding anniversary on Friday, March 15.

And it was terrific to say the least, like a scene straight out of a Christmas movie (Hello Vanessa Hudgens. lol)

I was supposed to be at home all day. I had just flown in from Mumbai a day earlier and was properly frazzled.

I knew the Mister had something up his sleeve of many colors- as usual- but this time, he really caught me off guard.

I had the assumption that we would be going out of town for the weekend, so on Friday, I decided to stay indoors and get my mojo back.

Not even a school errand that morning gave away what the Mister and my house manager were planning behind my back.

I returned to the house a few hours later to a delightful surprise; a bedroom of floating balloons, a cache of gifts that I will be showing you in a few and a smiling manager.

So lets get to it?

Some cute balloons in my closet that made me all teary.

The thing with surprises is that they make you nervous- you know it is coming but you don’t know what to expect, or how to react.

Another batch of balloons floating away at my office.

And on this day, I had not idea what was in store, but again that is the beauty of it all; the candy store effect.

So there is a bunch of flowers for the birthday girl on the bed next to a cache of gifts lying close by..

I have received countless gifts in my life time but this year was special and the timing was right- pun intended- because he got me a Rolex! You guys!

I guess I have an excuse to get fashionably late now?

And because it is not a proper Sonabration without cake, your girl got two because one is too cliché. One for the #39th birthday and the other one for the wedding anniversary because the arduous journey of love and marriage is marred by tempests and endless pitfalls. Haha!

A special cake because your girl has been loving Dior lately

Drum rolls please…

This is by far the most creative cake I have had and the attention to detail is award-worthy.

After I had the time to cry a little and say a prayer for the years past and the many to come, the Mister and I crowned the birthday Sonabration with a special dinner for two.

Insert any profoundly deep love quote here.

Oh and for those who were asking, I got to rock my fresh-off-the closet YSL Opyum sandals- this cute golden dress that made me feel like I was part of a Greek movie and strung my Birkin on my arm for giggles. Lol.

And just like this post, the birthday was soon over.

We hit 50k Subscribers!

So, we just hit 50k subscribers!

You guessed right, the excitement is palpable!

Two years ago, I started this channel from a corner of my living room. It was a dream come true.

Zero subscribers.

My first video was Summer in London and to be totally honest, I had no idea what I had just started.

Youtube was a space where viewers were in a constant search for drama and kerfuffle and gossip. And I was here making videos about my Chanel bags. Haha!

I was quickly written off. A cadre of my now former friends said I was a spoilt housewife looking for an outlet to show my family wealth.
Such bitterness.

At some point, one of them who is still in the trenches as we speak said I was Trash. We shall be talking about that in a different post.

From my first video, I soldiered on, like a Haitian typhoon. Undeterred.

And along the way it has been bittersweet. Like a properly whipped Cinquecento.

And in those two short years I have seen my name dragged in the muck on some third-rate gossip low-budget websites.

Take it a notch higher this year, upstarts.

In those two years I have won a handful of awards and graced some of the biggest papers in town.

In those two years I have learnt a great deal and gotten better at it. New stuff is coming soon. I promise.

Although I’m still far from what I dream of becoming, I have made tremendous progress in my own right.

I’m sure there are guys who began the same time I did and have clocked 100k plus subscribers.

Atta boys and girls!

We are treading different waters.

A special thanks to the growing family. From here it can only get bigger and better.

I appreciate the criticism, the bile, the hate and the nonchalance.

After all, would there be diamonds without the heat and the pressure?
